LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech is playing like the national spotlight agrees with them.
The Red Raiders and quarterback Graham Harrell have started quickly, jumping to a 12-0 lead over No. 1 Texas.
The Red Raiders have piled up an 182-8 edge in total offense as they controlled the ball for 12 minutes, 28 seconds.
Harrell has completed 11 of 18 passes for 160 yards. The Red Raiders have run the ball just enough to keep Texas off balance, piling up a respectable 22 yards, including a 2-yard jaunt by Baron Batch that capped a 96-yard, 10-play scoring drive on the final play of the first quarter.
Texas is getting pressure on Harrell. He's already been sacked once and has been harassed on almost every passing attempt. But he's still standing firm against the pressure and throwing to an assortment of receivers.
Michael Crabtree is clearly favoring his injured ankle. He's left the game twice after making catches, hobbling to the sideline on both times.
Texas showed some unusual jitters on their second possession of the game. Greg Smith, Dan Buckner and Jordan Shipley all had drops and the Longhorns were flagged for delay of the game.
Mike Leach and the Red Raiders couldn't have asked for a better start.
