Texas Tech soars to No. 2 in BCS rankings

Texas Tech and Mike Leach received a nice day-after present after learning the Red Raiders have soared to No. 2 in this week's BCS poll and second in the Associated Press, along with No. 3 in the USA Today coaches' poll.

All of the rankings were the highest in school history for the Red Raiders, who stunned No. 1 Texas with a dramatic 39-33 victory Saturday night in Lubbock.

The Big 12 again has stacked the most recent BCS standings with four teams in the top nine in this week's standings. Texas is No. 4, Oklahoma is sixth and Oklahoma State in ninth. Missouri rounds out the Big 12 ranked BCS teams at No. 14.

The Big 12 had more ranked teams than any confernce with five. The Southeastern Conference, Big Ten and Atlantic Coast all had four teams.
