Art Briles won't stop at having just one Robert Griffin on his Baylor roster.

The Bears have added another player to match the name of their sophomore quarterback with the signing of massive junior college offensive lineman Robert Griffin of Navarro College.

The newest Robert Griffin will enroll at Baylor for the spring semester, where the 6-foot-6, 345-pounder is expected to immediately challenge for a starting position.

"Our philosophy with junior college athletes is we don’t recruit them to stand,” Briles said. “We expect them to come in and play and to deliver. And we feel Robert Griffin and [new wide receiver recruit] Isaac Williams can do that for the Baylor football program.”

Griffin helped Navarro to an 11-1 record and a No. 3 national ranking in the final junior college poll as a sophomore in 2009. Griffin was named an honorable mention all-national junior college player last season.

“Robert is a physical specimen,” Briles said. “We feel like he’s going to provide immediate help and that he has a great upside.”

A two-time All-District 7-5A honoree on the defensive line at Trinity High School in Euless, Texas, Griffin helped lead his high school to the Division I state championship as a senior in 2007 and a 26-2 record in his final two seasons.

The "other" Robert Griffin is making strong progress after surgery following a season-ending knee injury that he sustained in the Bears' third game of the season against Northwestern State. He is expected to be recovered in time for spring practice.

Just a guess, but look for Briles could call his lineman "Big Robert" and his quarterback "Little Robert."
