Cornhuskers revealed at No. 5 in Prestige Rankings

Nebraska placed No. 5 in the final ESPN Prestige Rankings that were released Friday, giving the Big 12 two teams in the top five and three teams in the top 10.  

The Cornhuskers garnered 1,553 points in the rankings, which took into account positives like national championships and major award winners and negatives like NCAA probation, television bans and losing seasons.

Five national championships since 1970 helped boost Nebraska's score, along with three Heisman Trophy winners and consistent success in bowl appearances, top five finishes and conference titles. The program struggled because of its lack of success in the early period of the survey, including 17 losing seasons during a 21-season period from 1941-61.

With Oklahoma announced as No. 1 in the poll, here's the final rankings for all Big 12 teams:
