Coffman, drive of the year gives Wildcats win
By David Ubben
Kansas State had 5 minutes and 14 seconds to go 67 yards for a game-winning score.
They did it, using a late touchdown to beat UCF, 17-13.
The Wildcats took 4:50 and 13 plays to do it, but Carson Coffman scored the go-ahead touchdown with 24 seconds to play on a 7-yard run.
Coffman was 2-of-2 for 24 yards on third downs on the drive, including an 18-yarder to Andre McDonald on 3rd-and-10 in Kansas State's territory.
He also ran for a first down on a third down during the drive.
The Wildcats got exactly what they needed against the Knights, and Coffman provided it. Daniel Thomas carried the ball six times for 26 yards on the drive. Bur the big plays came from the quarterback, and Kansas State hasn't seen that under Coffman.
Now he deserves plenty of credit for keeping K-State at 4-0.
Coffman's numbers (11-of-22, 189 yards, TD, INT) aren't going to wow anyone, but he made plays when Kansas State needed them.
