Kansas State runs past Texas for fast start
By David Ubben
You can't ask for a much better start than what Kansas State got from its pair of running backs.
Backup William Powell broke a 62-yard kickoff return, and on Kansas State's second play, the Wildcats' Daniel Thomas scored on a 34-yard run with his first carry and Kansas State's second play.
Kansas State leads Texas, 7-0.
Neither one of these teams is built to play from behind, and points could be at a premium for both teams. There's no underestimating the importance of an early run like Thomas', and adding to that lead or holding it as the game progresses coul give Kansas State the luxury of only throwing when it must.
