Legendary Texas A&M coach dies
By ESPN.com staff
Former Texas A&M coach Emory Bellard has died, university officials confirmed on Thursday. He was 83.
Bellard had been battling Lou Gehrig's disease of late, and several former Aggies held a tribute for the coach back in November.
Bellard coached the Aggies from 1972-78, and compiled a 48-27 record. Before going to Texas A&M, he was Texas' offensive coordinator from 1967-71 and helped the Longhorns win national titles in 1969 and 1970.
