Iowa State unveils plans for video board
By David Ubben
Iowa State's Board of Regents approved a new structure that will feature a new video board in Jack Trice Stadium.
The board would be 101 feet high in the north end zone, rising above the Jacobson Athletic Building.
It is expected to be ready by the Cyclones' 2011 season opener.
Here's an artist's rendering, as well as a look at what to expect from the stands.
"The impact of this structure on our football program is hard to quantify, but its size, quality and versatility will significantly enhance Jack Trice Stadium,” athletic director Jamie Pollard said in a release. "Beyond a significant upgrade of entertainment possibilities, it also helps us maximize marketing potential within the stadium."
The board, made by Daktronics, will be 36 feet high and 79.5 feet wide, which is five times wider than the current video board in the stadium.
It will also feature state-of-the-art HD video.
