Blaine Gabbert's slide ends in Jacksonville

Buzz had built that Blaine Gabbert could go as high as No. 1 in this year's draft. That didn't happen. Cam Newton and Jake Locker both went ahead of Gabbert, but the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to get the former Missouri quarterback with the tenth pick.

He won't be pressured to produce early with David Garrard already in place for the Jaguars. Gabbert will get plenty of time to learn, as long as Garrard stays healthy and doesn't hit an extended struggle.

Mock drafts had Gabbert going to any number of places. Carolina, San Francisco and Arizona all made appearances. Jacksonville was a surprise, but it could pay off in the long run for Gabbert, Missouri's second selection in the first ten picks.
