Big 12 talents up for ESPYS
By David Ubben
The ESPYS released their fan voting categories this week, and you can vote for plenty of Big 12 talents to take home awards this summer at the show in Los Angeles.
Here's who can win what:
Best Breakthrough Athlete: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Griffin's got some tough competition in the category. He's got to take out Anthony Davis, aka, The Brow, at Kentucky. New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin, U.S. women's soccer star Alex Morgan and New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski complete the category.
Best Upset: Iowa State over Oklahoma State
How do the Cyclones not win this category? They shook up college football's landscape and helped usher in a playoff by giving way to an all-SEC rematch in the national championship game. They have to beat NCAA tourney Cinderellas Norfolk State (over Missouri) and Lehigh (over Duke), as well as the hometown LA Kings, who won the Stanley Cup.
Best Male College Athlete: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Griffin's got a good shot to take this one home. He has to beat Andrew Luck of Stanford (already did that in the Heisman), UK's Davis, Florida baseball's Mike Zunino, and someone named Jack Connolly who plays for Minnesota-Duluth hockey.
Get over there and vote now.
