WVU, TCU, KSU earn Big 12 weekly honors

By David Ubben

The Big 12 has announced its players of the week for Week 4, as voted on by a media panel. Here's who won:

OFFENSE: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia

Austin caught 13 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns in the Mountaineers' 31-21 win over Maryland. Those 13 catches matched Stedman Bailey's school record, set all the way back on Sept. 15, 2012. It was his ninth career 100-yard receiving game and second-highest receiving total ever. In the game, he also set the school's career record for receptions, finishing with 208.

DEFENSE: Kenny Cain, LB, TCU

Cain made four tackles but forced three turnovers in the Frogs' 27-7 win over Virginia. He picked off two passes and recovered a fumble, becoming the first TCU linebacker to intercept two passes in a game since 1999. Cain had a tackle for loss and the Frogs turned his three turnovers into 10 points.

SPECIAL TEAM: Ryan Doerr, P, Kansas State

Doerr pinned Oklahoma inside its 20-yard line on all five of his punts in K-State's 24-19 win over Oklahoma. Two of those five were inside the 10-yard line. His longest punt was 49 yards.
