Pac-12, Big 12 battling for second place
By David Ubben
The Big 12 started the season well out in front as the nation's No. 1 conference, but it might fall to No. 3 soon. The Pac-12 is continuing its run and is closer than ever in this week's ESPN Stats & Info Conference Power Rankings.
The Big 12 is still the No. 1 conference according to the computers, but it leads the Pac-12 by just half a point, nearly 11 points behind the first-place SEC.
"West Virginia’s fall from grace has hurt the Big 12," writes Stats & Info's Sharon Katz. "The Mountaineers ranked in the AP Top 5 four weeks ago, but three consecutive losses has West Virginia out of the AP Top 25 for the first time this season."
Not a good look for the newcomer there.
