Big 12 Game Balls: Week 14
By David Ubben
Not everybody can get a helmet sticker on Sunday morning or mentions in our weekend rewind on Monday. There are still plenty of guys who deserve recognition. Here are the best of the rest:
Josh Stewart, WR, Oklahoma State: Stewart finished in a big way to key off what might be a huge 2013 season. In the loss to Baylor, he caught 12 balls for 147 yards and a touchdown and added a 25-yard carry. It was his third game in four outings with at least 10 catches and 147 yards, and he finished the regular season with 96 catches for 1,154 yards with three different quarterbacks. That's a pretty healthy stat line.
Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia: Bailey stated a strong case for the Biletnikoff in West Virginia's 59-10 win over KU, his final game of the season. He hauled in 11 balls for 159 yards and a pair of scores, raising his total to 23 touchdowns on the season. That number is insane, and seven more than any receiver in college football. The award is wide open. Any one of the three finalists could win, though I'd probably say USC's Marqise Lee is the favorite. Not that he should be. For the record, I voted for Baylor's Terrance Williams.
John Hubert, RB, Kansas State: Collin Klein's big night got all the attention, but Hubert had a pretty big day himself. He only had 14 carries, but he turned them into 66 yards for nearly five yards a carry. Most importantly, he scored three touchdowns in the Wildcats' 42-24 win over Texas. It was his second game this season with at least three touchdowns. He had four against Kansas earlier this season.
