Fans pick best Big 12 bowl performance
By David Ubben
Earlier this week, I asked you to weigh in on which Big 12 bowl performance was best, and you answered emphatically.
Baylor cashed in with 43 percent of the vote for its 49-26 win over No. 17 UCLA at the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Texas came in second with 25 percent of the vote after mounting a comeback in a 31-27 win over No. 13 Oregon State in the Valero Alamo Bowl.
Oklahoma State's 58-14 win over Purdue in the Heart of Dallas Bowl garnered 19 percent of the vote. Texas Tech got 10 percent of the vote for its comeback win over Minnesota in the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas.
Pretty good voting from the fans. I'm impressed. It broke down about as I expected, and I would have voted with the majority.
There's no competition here. I see Oregon State and UCLA as very comparable teams. Not only did Baylor earn one of the Big 12's best wins, it played one of its best games of the season on offense and defense as an underdog and won in spectacular fashion.
The Big 12 bowl season started in style, but no other team came close to the bar Baylor set. Texas earned a nice win, but the Longhorns struggled for much of the game. Baylor led a top-20 team in its home state 35-10 at halftime. Really impressive, and there's no debate to be had here.
Baylor was the class of the Big 12 this bowl season.
