The Big 12's best signing day ever!?!
By David Ubben
Colleague Brett McMurphy checked in today with his annual column poking fun at every coach in America's optimism on signing day.
Everybody filled their needs. Everybody's happy. Everybody had a great day. Just ask them! Some funny stuff here, but here's a sampling from the Big 12's coaches.
Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy: "Today's been a really good day."
Baylor's Art Briles: "We're very pleased with this recruiting class."
Iowa State's Paul Rhoads: "I'm very pleased with our recruiting class."
Kansas' Charlie Weis: "I'm very pleased with how things have turned out."
Texas' Mack Brown: "We have a smaller class, we think a really good class."
TCU's Gary Patterson: "For us, it's an overall, pretty good class."
Oklahoma's Bob Stoops: "We've got great players ... at all the positions we needed."
Kansas State's Bill Snyder: "Hopefully we have accessed the skills, capabilities and intrinsic values of these young people accurately."
West Virginia's Dana Holgorsen: "We are excited."
Texas Tech's Kliff Kingsbury: "Really excited about this class."
Always funny stuff. You can't blame the coaches for being legitimately excited and selling fans on the new players they'll be following for the next few years, even if their public comments bleed together and all sound similar every single year.
If you ask the coaches, though, better days are ahead for every program in the league, even if that's mathematically impossible.
