KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Texas quarterback Colt McCoy renewed an old friendship this week with Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel. The two quarterbacks are roommates at the Elite 11 training camp in Los Angeles, working with top high-school prospects from across the nation.
Earlier this week, Daniel told reporters that McCoy is "the second-best quarterback in the Big 12."
McCoy laughed when he heard the jibe.
"He probably would say that," McCoy said. "But we're having a blast working together and we're really enjoying hanging out with each other in the summer."
McCoy and Daniel first met in high school and have remained close despite attending opposing Big 12 schools.
"We both played quarterback in Texas high schools and we played in the (high-school) All-Star game together," McCoy said. "We've been friends for awhile."
Like Daniel, McCoy left the California camp for a day to attend the Big 12's media gathering. He arrived in Kansas City early Wednesday morning and immediately left to return to California after his media responsibilities ended early Wednesday afternoon.
Other college quarterbacks who are at the camp include Purdue's Curtis Painter, USC's Mark Sanchez, Texas Southern's Bobby Reid and Georgia's Matt Stafford.
