Bob Stoops' home burglarized, car stolen

By David Ubben

Bob Stoops' family just moved into a brand-new home last year in north Norman, but the residence dealt with intruders early Wednesday morning.

From colleague Jake Trotter:
The home of Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops was robbed early Wednesday morning, police confirmed to ESPN.com.

The burglary occurred around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday while the Stoops family slept, according to Lieutenant Eric Lehenbauer of the Norman Police Department. Among the items stolen was a vehicle.

Police were called to the scene about 8:30 a.m. after the family discovered the burglary. Lehenbauer said there were no injuries.

Really scary situation for the Stoops family, but it's good to hear no one was injured. Stoops was in Wichita, Kan., at a caravan event earlier tonight with quarterback Blake Bell, but didn't mention the robbery in interviews with media.

Stoops' home is likely the largest in Norman, just south of Oklahoma City, but its inhabitant is also the most famous and one of the most beloved people in the entire area.

If police discover the robber's (robbers') identity, they may have some trouble of their own to deal with in the OKC area. Not a smart decision on their part.
