The recruiting wars are heating up. Here are some of the Big 12's top stories as National Signing Day looms only eight days away.

  • Quarterback Raymond Cotton of Fort Meade (Md.) is considering Kansas State and Ole Miss as his finalists after reneging on his original commitment to Auburn, the Birmingham News' Doug Segrest reports.
  • Baylor added depth to its receiving corps with commitments from Josh Gordon from Houston Lamar High School and Jerod Monk of Wylie, Texas, according to Waco Tribune-Herald beat writer John Werner.
  • Conor Boffeli, a tight end from West Des Moines Valley High School, changed his commitment from Iowa State to Iowa, the Des Moines Register's Randy Peterson reports.
  • Dave Matter of the Columbia Tribune reports that St. Louis University High School standout Ronnie Wingo has decided to push back his announcement at least a day because of icy weather conditions in his home area. Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma remain among his potential choices.
  • Lubbock Avalanche-Journal beat writer Don Williams details Texas Tech's signing of mammoth offensive lineman Matt Goetz of Cibolo, Texas, and defensive tackle Myles Wade of Portland, Ore. The duo combines for 586 pounds of added beef for future Red Raider rosters.
  • The Interstate 20 corridor that runs through Arlington and DeSoto, Texas, is turning into one of the nation's most fertile recruiting areas, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Trae Thompson.
