New Kansas State coach Bill Snyder added another member of his coaching staff by hiring Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig as the Wildcats' offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Ludwig has helped direct the Utes to an undefeated season and a Sugar Bowl berth against Alabama. In his 22nd year of coaching, Ludwig led an offense that was highlighted by quarterback Brian Johnson, the Mountain West Conference's offensive player of the year.

The Utes are ranked 15th nationally in scoring and 31st in total offense.

Before going to Utah, Ludwig worked as an offensive coordinator at Oregon and Fresno State. Among the players he has worked with have include David Carr, Billy Volek and Kellen Clemens.

His hiring is considered a huge addition for the Wildcats and Snyder, who is starting his coaching career again after retiring in 2005.

Ludwig's offensive philosophy is expected to bring a wide-open passing mentality to Snyder's team.
