Here are some tidbits on Missouri heading into tonight's Valero Alamo Bowl against Northwestern in San Antonio.
Bowl record: 11-14.
Current bowl streak: Won 1.
Most memorable bowl victory: The Tigers stormed back from an early three-touchdown deficit for a 38-31 victory over South Carolina in the 2005 Independence Bowl. South Carolina was poised to take a 28-0 lead when Marcus King returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown. Brad Smith accounted for 432 yards and three TDs to key the comeback.
Worst bowl loss: Yvenson Bernard's two-point PAT with 22 seconds left to boost Oregon State to a 39-38 triumph over the Tigers in the 2006 Sun Bowl. Tony Temple rushed for 194 yards and Chase Daniel passed for 330 yards and two TDs, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers squandered a fourth-quarter lead.
Best individual performance: Tailback Tony Temple rushed for Cotton Bowl records of 281 yards and four TDs to spark the Tigers' 38-7 triumph over Arkansas in the 2008 Cotton Bowl. The victory boosted Missouri to a 12-2 record and a No. 4 ranking in the final AP poll -- the highest in school history.
Record against Northwestern: 3-4. The Tigers won the most recent game, 28-3, on Sept. 19, 1987.
Common opponents: Illinois. Missouri beat Illinois, 52-42, on Aug. 30. Northwestern beat Illinois, 27-10, on Nov. 22.
The number: 21,912. Days since Northwestern last won a bowl game. The Wildcats beat California in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 1949. Since then, Northwestern has lost five straight bowl games and hasn't won a bowl contest in a period of 59 years, 11 months and 28 days.
