Cincinnati assistant head coach and defensive line coach Keith Gilmore is going to Illinois to coach the defensive line under Ron Zook, according to a source close to the situation.

Gilmore has been an assistant under Brian Kelly the past six seasons at both Cincinnati and Central Michigan. Under his tutelage, Terrill Byrd earned All-American honors in 2007 and Connor Barwin led the Big East in sacks in 2008 after moving over from tight end.

He is the first major assistant to leave Kelly's staff for another job since Kelly took over Cincinnati in December 2006. That's pretty amazing when you consider that Cincinnati has won 22 games in that span, including this year's Big East title, and Kelly has been the league's coach of the year two seasons in a row.
