South Florida linebacker Sam Barrington was arrested and jailed Wednesday for driving without a valid license, Greg Auman reports in the St. Petersburg Times.
It's the second time in a year that Barrington has been charged with that offense. Auman reports that the sophomore has had six traffic citations in 13 months in Hillsborough County.
Bulls coach Skip Holtz hasn't commented on Barrington's situation yet, but there's no doubt he's an important player for this year's team. He's slated to start at middle linebacker on a very inexperienced defense. Barrington is a talented guy who chose South Florida over Miami last year on the recruiting trail.
Are traffic violations enough to earn a suspension? We'll find out where Holtz stands on that. In the meantime, maybe Barrington should take a driver's ed course.
