Skip Holtz announced some additions and subtractions on Wednesday as South Florida players officially reported for fall camp.
Three scholarship players are gone: receivers Patrick Richardson and Jason Sherman and running back Aston Samuels. All three are moving on from football. Two signees, meanwhile, will not make it: running back Mike Hayes and receiver Jamaal Montague. They'll try to rejoin the program next year. Receiver Ed Alcin also is transferring.
Notice that all of those players are either receivers or running backs, and those two positions are already thin for the Bulls. Expect Holtz to really concentrate on those areas in recruiting.
The Bulls did put two former walk-ons on scholarship: safety Mistral Raymond and linebacker Donte Spires. Raymond is expected to start this year and has been a nice surprise in his career.
Holtz also said that receiver Victor Marc, who's spent time in his career at safety and quarterback, will be tried at running back this month.
