Well, at least the Big East has a presence in this year's polls.

A year after being shut out in both major preseason rankings, the league now has two teams in the first USA Today Coaches' Top 25. Pittsburgh, the preseason conference favorite, checks in at No. 15. West Virginia is tied for 24th, along with Utah -- the latter of which happens to be Pitt's opening opponent.

Cincinnati is the top vote-getter outside the Top 25. How many programs have gone to back-to-back BCS bowls and failed to crack the Top 25 the following year?

Connecticut, which I believe should be ranked in the Top 25, is 33rd, while South Florida received four votes.

Cincinnati's Butch Jones, Syracuse's Doug Marrone, Rutgers' Greg Schiano and Louisville's Charlie Strong are among the coaches who vote in this year's poll.
