Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe has called a news conference for this afternoon to announce changes to his coaching staff for the 2009 season.
Kragthorpe is expected to announce that Jeff Brohm will not be retained as offensive coordinator. Brohm, a former Louisville player and longtime assistant who was in his first year of calling plays in 2008, will likely end up taking a position under former Louisville coach Howard Schnellenberger at Florida Atlantic.
That means Kragthorpe will have his third offensive coordinator in three years this season. He will also have a new defensive coordinator for the third straight season, as Brent Guy replaces Ron English, who left to become the head coach at Eastern Michigan. Bill Miller was elevated to defensive coordinator after English departed, but Miller then bolted in January for a job at Kansas.
Louisville also needs new assistants to coach running backs, because Tony Alford left for that same job at Notre Dame. Kragthorpe coached the wide receivers himself last season but may give up those duties in 2009.
I'll have more to come after the news conference.
