• Cincinnati has apparently found its new defensive coordinator. According to several reports in Virginia newspapers, including here and here, Virginia defensive coordinator Bob Diaco is coming to the Bearcats. Diaco was elevated to defensive coordinator by the Cavaliers just last month. He was co-defensive coordinator under current Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly at Central Michigan in 2005.

• The top candidate for offensive coordinator at Pittsburgh appears to be New York Jets receivers coach Noel Mazzone, Paul Zeise reports on his Pittsburgh Post-Gazette blog. Mazzone is a former playcaller at Ole Miss and NC State.

• Rutgers lost an assistant over the weekend, as running backs coach Gary Brown left for the Cleveland Browns. He had spent just one year on the staff.

• And, finally, in non-coaching news, West Virginia quarterback-turned-receiver Bradley Starks is leaving behind his quarterback days for good, Dave Hickman says in the Charleston Gazette.
