The first college football Saturday of the year is here. What could be better?

You have to wait until 3:30 p.m. today for any Big East action, but we'll have you covered here at ESPN.com. I'll be checking in with periodic updates from all the games. Colleague Adam Rittenberg is at UConn-Michigan, and you follow live updates from the Big House at his blog. And ESPN experts will be stopping by a live chat this afternoon to discuss all the games (though Notre Dame-Purdue is the focus).

With Pitt's loss on Thursday night, the Big East could use a strong performance out of Connecticut, and it needs defending champion Cincinnati to come through at Fresno State. Louisville and Syracuse also face challenging openers, while West Virginia and South Florida usher in a new year against what should be overmatched opponents.
