Big East bowl projections

I take on this week's projections with no idea who will win the Big East. Five different teams have a solid chance, and there are still so many possible scenarios and tiebreakers left that I'd be better off trying to predict the stock market.

So to keep things simple this week, I'm operating on the principle that Pittsburgh -- which has a one-game lead -- will win the league. I have very little confidence that the Panthers will actually win out, but at this point they're still the team in charge.

Keep in mind, too, that these bowl slots will be based on geography and ticket sales, not necessarily actual pecking order. So I see the Pinstripe Bowl taking Syracuse, even though the Orange may tie for the league lead or finish second, and South Florida staying close to home in Orlando.

BCS (Fiesta): Pittsburgh

Champs Sports: South Florida

Meineke Car Care: West Virginia

BBVA Compass: Louisville

New Era Pinstripe: Syracuse

Beef 'O' Brady's: Connecticut

Home for the holidays: Rutgers, Cincinnati
