The Big East bowl picture is quickly coming into focus now.
Louisville has accepted a bid to the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Cardinals, who finished 6-6 to clinch their first postseason appearance since the 2006 season, will play Southern Miss. The teams are old rivals from their Conference USA days and even before that, and Louisville coach Charlie Strong and Golden Eagles coach Larry Fedora were both coordinators at Florida, though at different times.
As I tweeted early, early this morning, the league's bowl roster is pretty clear now. The Champs Sports Bowl should take West Virginia, and that only leaves Pitt and South Florida for the Meineke Car Care and BBVA Compass bowls. South Florida makes more sense for the Charlotte game since Pitt went to the Meineke last year.
Of course, Connecticut is going to the BCS, and we'll have to wait to find out if the Discover Orange Bowl or Tostitos Fiesta Bowl takes the Huskies tonight. Syracuse accepted a bid to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl last week.
