Pitt recruiting taking a hit after change

Predictably, Pittsburgh's highly rated recruiting class is starting to lose members during the coaching transition from Dave Wannstedt to Mike Haywood.

The latest defector is ESPNU 150 athlete Bill Belton, the top-rated player in the Class of 2011. Belton was a dual-threat quarterback who was recruited as a receiver by the Panthers.

Others who have decommitted include three-star defensive end Desimon Green and three-star linebacker Ben Kline. Others may very well follow suit.

This usually happens when a coaching change occurs, and you can't expect every player who has committed to a coach to stay on board. At the same time, Haywood might not necessarily want the same recruits that Wannstedt did as he may be looking for different types of players to fit his system. The good news is he still has nearly seven weeks to try and hold together this current class and add new members for 2011.

A few decommitments aren't the end of the world. In fact, they're to be expected.
