Today's installment in the Big East fresh faces series turns to Pittsburgh. With so many veterans, the Panthers might not need to look to incoming freshman to fill roles this fall. But here are some newcomers who are just hitting campus that will be worth watching this summer:
• Dan Mason, LB: One of the top linebacking recruits in the country last season, Mason could eventually follow in the line of great Pitt linebackers that has lately included H.B. Blades and Scott McKillop. With McKillop graduated, the 6-foot, 225-pound Mason will get a long look this summer, even though the Panthers think they have good depth at the position.
• Ray Graham, RB: Another true freshman, Dion Lewis, got a leg up in the running back competition by enrolling in January and then performing beyond most expectations this spring. But that doesn't mean Graham can't work his way into some playing time if he turns heads this summer. A top prospect who rushed for 1,582 yards and 24 touchdowns as a senior in Elizabeth, N.J., the 5-foot-9, 185-pounder will have a chance to earn some of the carries that used to go to LeSean McCoy.
• Jason Douglas, RB: It will be interesting to see what Pitt does with this diminutive -- Douglas is listed at 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds -- but speedy newcomer from Florida. He'll try to crack the crowded backfield picture, and at the very least, Douglas should get some consideration on special teams. He averaged 30.5 yards per return on kickoffs as a high school senior.
