I linked yesterday to the New York Post report that cited unnamed sources saying the Big East might approach Maryland and Boston College.

Colleague Heather Dinich was on the case fast, getting responses from both ACC schools. They both said it's a non-story, and that there's been no contact from the Big East.

Boston College makes more sense as a Big East alum than ACC stalwart Maryland. But BC athletic director Gene DeFilippo, who doesn't exactly have a lot of friends around the Big East, told Heather that "as long as there is an Atlantic Coast Conference, BC will be in it."

Never say never, but for now, there doesn't appear to be a whole lot to this idea.
