Reviewing the '07 classes in the Big East

I'm undertaking another review of past recruiting classes to see how things actually ended up down the road. This is a fun exercise that also should provide some illumination as we march toward signing day on Wednesday.

Today, I'm looking back on the 2007 signing classes for each Big East team to see who became stars, who became contributors and who became busts. Then we'll see what the average success rate for each category is in the league. This isn't going to be an exact science; I'm classifying guys as "stars" as those who played at an all-league level. Contributors can be anyone from a starter to a reserve or special teams player -- basically if you made it onto the field in some role in some extended period of time, then you are considered a contributor here.

There will also be disputes about how many guys actually came into each class; to make things easy and uniform, I am taking all my information from ESPN.com's recruiting page; the key here is not who counts in what class, but what percentage of announced signees make it.

I'll start with the first four teams, alphabetically, and then hit the final four in a subsequent post. Feel free to offer suggestions/corrections if you feel I've misplaced a player in the wrong category.
