The shutout is complete.

The Big East, which placed no teams in the preseason coaches' Top 25, also got no love from the writers. The league has no teams in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 that was released Saturday.

Pittsburgh came the closest, finishing 28th. The Panthers were followed by Rutgers at No. 30, West Virginia at No. 32, Cincinnati at No. 33 and South Florida at No. 45.

It's not a good situation for the conference, but a few early-season nonconference wins could change perceptions in a hurry.
