Let's look back and then forward, starting with the Week 2 rewind:
Best Game: South Florida's 31-24 overtime escape at Central Florida. If that was the last meeting for a while between these two schools, at least it ended in style.
Big Man on Campus (Offense): South Florida QB Matt Grothe. He threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns, including the game winner, to keep the Bulls from a damaging loss to Central Florida in overtime.
Big Man on Campus (Defense): Connecticut LB Scott Lutrus. He led a lockdown job by the Huskies' defense, recording 12 tackles in the 12-9 overtime win at Temple.
Big Man on Campus (Special Teams): Cincinnati KR Mardy Gilyard. He set a new Big East record for return yards and had a 97-yard touchdown in the 52-26 loss at Oklahoma.
Worst Hangover: West Virginia, naturally. Losing to East Carolina wasn't a total shocker. Getting completely manhandled and producing nothing on offense was.
Best storyline: South Florida running back Moise Plancher made his first start in two years at Central Florida, the same school where his cousin, Ereck, died during conditioning drills in the offseason. "I was just proud to wear Plancher on the back of my jersey representing my cousin," he said.
And now here's what's on tap in Week 3:
A ludicrously light schedule in the Big East, featuring only four games. We'll list them in descending order of interest.
Kansas (2-0) at South Florida (2-0): The defending Orange Bowl champs come back to Florida on Friday night as the Bulls try to register the Big East's first marquee victory.
Virginia (1-1) at Connecticut (2-0): How good is UConn after beating Temple and Hofstra? Virginia hasn't looked too great its first two weeks, so the Huskies should be favored at home.
North Carolina (1-0) at Rutgers (0-1): This Thursday nighter features a team that barely beat McNeese State (the Tar Heels) versus a team that got hammered at home by Fresno State (the Scarlet Knights).
Penn State (2-0) at Syracuse (0-2): If the Orange can't slow down Northwestern or Akron, what chance do they have against the Nittany Lions?
