New York Jets linebacker Bart Scott has never met Eric LeGrand, but he was moved enough with his story that he has decided to help.
Scott told NFL.com that he will donate proceeds from his new clothing line to the "LeGrand Believe Fund." Scott trademarked "Can't Wait!" -- a phrase he said after ESPN's Sal Paolantonio told him, "See you next week in Pittsburgh," during the playoffs this past season. Scott has turned "Can't Wait" into a clothing line that will be released in the coming weeks. The first run will produce about 1,200 shirts in three different designs.
"All the proceeds from the first run will go to LeGrand to help him," Scott said in the interview with NFL.com. "I want to do something for him, to help him. I hope we'll sell out the shirts quickly so we can get the money to him because things are expensive with his care, and I know there are money needs. For instance, he needs to refit the doors at his house for his wheelchair."
LeGrand was paralyzed in a game against Army last season but has begun to feel twitches in his body. He still faces a long road with the hope of walking again one day.
"I've never met him but I heard he's a great kid," Scott said. "He has a lot of concerns and needs right now, but I know someday he will walk, and that's something I can't wait for."
