USF opens camp Thursday afternoon. Here are three burning questions:

1. Running game. We have heard lots during the offseason about the infusion of talent into the USF run game thanks to transfers Darrell Scott and Dontae Aycock. Folks seem to be most excited about what Scott brings to the equation for the Bulls. Questions about his work ethic dogged him at Colorado, but he has been nothing but the model player in Tampa. Interestingly, he and Aycock made some serious weight gains this offseason. Scott is up to 246 pounds and Aycock is listed at 253. How will that impact them this season? Lost a little in the talk has been Demetris Murray, who had 533 yards and four touchdowns last season. Will USF finally have a 1,000-yard back for the first time since 2005?

2. B.J. Daniels. Along with the running game, another popular theme has been whether Daniels will be able to put together a consistent enough season to truly turn the Bulls into a contender. He gets a huge challenge right off the bat at Notre Dame. His teammates say he has developed into more of a leader and is much more mature. A good running game will help him, but Daniels has got to take the reins of this offense himself.

3. Youth. The Bulls expect to play several true freshmen this season. Coach Skip Holtz said at his news conference Wednesday that seven or eight could contribute this season, including offensive linemen Max Lang and Thor Jozwiak; receiver Andre Davis and defensive tackle Elkino Watson. Davis and Elkino Watson received a lot of buzz on signing day. Now we get to see whether they can live up to their advance billing.
