West Virginia debuted at No. 24 in the Associated Press preseason rankings, giving the Big East one team in the Top 25. No Big East team is ranked in the USA Today coaches' poll.

Excitement is high for the Mountaineers with new head coach Dana Holgorsen in charge. The Big East had no teams ranked in the final AP standings last season.

Pitt was the only other Big East team that received votes in the preseason poll. Oklahoma starts the season at No. 1 in the AP and coaches' rankings.
