Week 1 is almost in the books, so time to update my Big East bowl projections. I made a few adjustments here based on the results, but have not moved anybody out of the projections just yet. One important piece of this puzzle that remains the same is having Notre Dame take the Big East spot in the Champs Sports Bowl. After watching their loss to USF, I remain confident the Irish will have tough time making it into a BCS game.
BCS, Orange Bowl: West Virginia vs. ACC. Still holding firm on the Mountaineers, who debut later Sunday against Marshall.
Pinstripe Bowl: USF vs. Big 12. The Bulls had a terrific win at Notre Dame and looked like a much more complete team in Week 1 than Pitt, which was in this spot last week.
Belk Bowl: Pitt vs. ACC. Give the players some time to get adjusted to the new offense.
BBVA Compass Bowl: Louisville vs. SEC. Banking on the Cardinals to get some offensive rhythm going to match a defense that has the potential to be pretty solid.
Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl: Syracuse vs. Conference USA. The Orange had a stirring win against Wake Forest in overtime but need to answer some important questions on defense.
At-large: Cincinnati, UConn. Losing the Champs Sports Bowl to Notre Dame means one less guaranteed spot.
I will keep track of my projections each week.
