Not a lot of changes in the order this week, but I think the top three teams have established themselves as the main contenders ... at least for this week.

1. Cincinnati: You wouldn't think the Bearcats could do anything to impress while playing Southeast Missouri State. You'd be wrong. Scoring 70 points and having no letdown five days after a big win at Rutgers was definitely impressive.

2. Pittsburgh: Pitt has taken care of business very well in its first two weeks, scoring a combined 82 points. But the secondary looked very shaky at Buffalo and lost safety Andrew Taglianetti to a torn ACL. Shouldn't matter against Navy but could be something to watch down the line.

3. West Virginia: The Mountaineers have a strong case to be ranked No. 2 in these rankings after the win over East Carolina. I'm still a little concerned about the penalties, turnovers and special teams gaffes, but clearly this team is one to be taken very seriously.

4. South Florida: The Bulls could well be the least-accomplished 3-0 team in America after this week. The three-game stretch of Wofford, Western Kentucky and Charleston Southern just doesn't tell us much about how good South Florida is. I'd like to see the Bulls put away a lesser opponent before the second half.

5. Connecticut: The Huskies are averaging 16.5 points a game through two weeks. The new no-huddle attack hasn't exactly taken the world by storm. The UConn defense remains stout, but this team needs to find a way to get into the end zone.

6. Rutgers: The Scarlet Knights got back on the winning track, but they could have gotten as much from playing their scout team as they did from Howard. Doubt remains.

7. Louisville: I don't necessarily think the Cardinals are better than Syracuse. But since they are 1-0 and the Orange is 0-2, I guess Louisville deserves this spot for one week.

8. Syracuse: If only the Orange has South Florida's schedule right about now.
