Veteran Maryland starting offensive tackle R.J. Dill has decided he will transfer to Rutgers to finish is football career.
Dill told The Washington Times on Wednesday that he chose the Scarlet Knights over UConn and Marshall because of the "huge family feel." He is set to graduate this week with a degree in economics, and will be allowed to play immediately because Rutgers offers a graduate program that Maryland does not.
Dill started 33 games in his Maryland career, including 30 straight. Rutgers continues to have needs on the offensive line as it works to rebuild the position.
"There's an opportunity to play there," Dill told the newspaper. "I'm not walking into a guarantee I'll be starting. I'm walking into a situation where there's an opportunity to compete for a spot."
