UConn hired Chicago Bears assistant Shane Day as quarterbacks coach, the school announced Tuesday.
Day spent the last two years working with the quarterbacks in Chicago, and has quite the challenge ahead of him. Quarterback is the biggest position of need for the Huskies, coming off a 5-7 season. They have two early enrollees in Chandler Whitmer and Casey Cochran and three returning players that should all be available for spring practice.
Day previously spent the 2007-09 seasons as a quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers and was an offensive quality control coach at Michigan in 2006, working with the quarterbacks. He began his career as a high school coach.
