Hey, Big East fans, remember me? I'm filling in for Andrea today. So, uh, anything new around here in the past 10 months?
- Memphis (really?) finally got its Big East membership, and now the Tigers need to act like they belong, Geoff Calkins says.
- The Big East will have a hard time being a major football league even with its western expansion, Dennis Dodd writes. The Memphis move shows the Big East is still mostly about basketball. SI.com's Holly Anderson says there were about 40 schools that would have been a better pick for the league than Memphis.
- Rutgers and Syracuse could play twice next year if West Virginia bolts early for the Big 12.
- West Virginia is willing to pay $11 million -- with a little assistance from the Big 12 -- to get out of the Big East immediately, Mitch Vingle reports.
- Pitt athletic director Steve Pedersen is frustrated with the league's uncertainty -- and lack of 2012 schedule. The Panthers would like to get out early but don't want to pay the exit fee.
- The Big East looks an awful lot like the Conference USA that Louisville supposedly left behind, Rick Bozich writes.
