We are counting down the top 25 players in the Big East, one player at a time. Or in the case of today -- two players at a time. You get a special double bonus treat -- No. 10 will come out later this afternoon.
At No. 11: Kendall Reyes, DT, UConn.
Making the case: Reyes had his best season yet, even as he fought through constant double-teams and transitioned to a new defensive scheme. His position in the middle of the defense allowed him to grab 13.5 tackles for loss, and helped the Huskies finish No. 4 in the nation in rush defense, yielding an average of 85.7 yards a game. He even was freed up a few times to post 4.5 sacks and four quarterback hurries.
There was some inconsistency, but it speaks volumes that Reyes was not only named MVP of UConn this season. He also was selected to the Big East first team for the second straight season -- an honor bestowed by the league coaches who have to game plan for him.
