The Big East finished 5-2 today but had one team fall from the ranks of the unbeaten. Here's a quick look at who did what:

Breakthrough win

South Florida: The Bulls' 17-7 victory at Florida State was probably the biggest in school history, and they may very well be ranked in the Top 25 at 4-0 next week.

Good win

Rutgers: It wasn't pretty most of the game, but the Scarlet Knights needed to beat Maryland on the road to have any credibility, and they broke it open late.

Took care of business

Cincinnati: The Bearcats only won by eight over Fresno State at home, but at least they didn't get bitten by the upset bug like some others across the country.

UConn: Thoroughly dispatched Rhode Island 52-10, as the Huskies should have done.

Syracuse: Trailed at the half to -- gulp -- Maine, but won handily, 41-24. Will have to play better next week against South Florida, for sure.

Respectable loss

Louisville: No one expected the Cardinals to win at Utah, and they lost by about the margin most figured at 30-14. Still, respectable losses aren't what Louisville fans want these days.

Disappointing loss

Pittsburgh: No real shame in losing by 7 at NC State. But given that Pitt scored 31 points and didn't create a turnover, that's disconcerting. The defense has major issues.
