ESPN's Next-Level statistics group has some interesting information you can't find anywhere else. Here is how the Big East stands up in some Next-Level statistical categories:
  • Cincinnati's Tony Pike is tied for seventh nationally with 17 passes for 20 or more yards this season. He's tied for 14th with seven passes for 30 or more yards.
  • Cincinnati's Mardy Gilyard and Syracuse's Mike Williams are tied for seventh nationally with seven catches for 20 or more yards. Pitt's Jonathan Baldwin and Rutgers' Tim Brown each have six such catches. Brown is tied for fourth nationally with five catches for 30 or more yards.
  • Pitt's Dion Lewis is tied for ninth nationally with 12 runs for 10 yards or more yards. South Florida's B.J. Daniels is tied for fourth nationally with five runs for 20 yards or more.
  • Lewis is averaging 6.54 yards per rush on first-down runs, which is ninth best in the country.
  • Remember West Virginia's short-yardage problems from a year ago? Well, the Mountaineers have converted 75 percent (9 of 12) of their third downs of three yards or less, placing them among the top 20 teams nationally in that stat.
  • West Virginia is also third nationally in converting third downs of seven yards or more at 47.62 percent (10 of 21). Cincinnati is 15th in that category at 37.5 percent. On the flip side, Syracuse has made a first down just once in 12 tries (6.25 percent) in those third-and-long situations.
  • Cincinnati is fifth nationally in percentage of drives that begin inside its own 20 that end in touchdowns. The Bearcats have converted 42.9 percent of those long drives into six points. Louisville also ranks in the top 10 of that category at 33 percent, while Rutgers is in the top 20 at 28.6 percent.
