Now that's the Pitt football we're accustomed to seeing.

The Panthers got back to their basics in the second half at Louisville, running the ball with authority, locking things down on defense, pressuring the passer and taking the occasional deep shot down the field. They shut out Louisville for the second half and won going away, 35-10.

It's a big win for Dave Wannstedt's team, because it lets the Panthers put the NC State collapse behind them and move to 1-0 in the Big East. UConn is next up at Heinz Field in what figures to be a bruising game.

As for Louisville, Steve Kragthorpe is now 0-8 in his last eight tries against FBS opponents. The Cards are 1-3 this year and have a tough slate remaining, beginning with Southern Miss next week. The heat has intensified for Kragthorpe and will continue to do so until he can get his team to win a big game. The second half was vastly disappointing for Louisville, which led 10-7 at the break but had multiple breakdowns on the offensive line, among many other problems.

Looks like another long year in The Ville. (And can they please take that off the uniforms now?)
