Anybody who follows Rutgers knows this has become the hallmark phrase associated with the program.
So let us go back to its humble beginnings. Back to 2005, when former coach Greg Schiano used the phrase "just keep chopping wood" after the Scarlet Knights let a win against Illinois slip away in the season opener.
The mantra stuck. Now the word CHOP is emblazoned in the hallway of the football facility leading to the locker room. Schiano might be gone, but Rutgers and chop now go together like game days and tailgates. New coach Kyle Flood signs off every single Twitter message with ... #CHOP!
