Here are a few items of note as we gear up for this weekend's games. As always, kudos to these schools' sports information departments and ESPN Stats & Info for sharing these.
  • Syracuse faces USC on Saturday. The Trojans gained 224 of their 394 receiving yards Saturday against Hawaii after the catch, the most yards after the catch for any AP top-25 team in Week 1. Marqise Lee had 138 yards after the catch, including 69 on his 75-yard touchdown catch on the game's first play. His 224 yards after the catch marked the Trojans’ second-most since the start of the 2009 season. They had 234 against UCLA in last season's finale.
  • Saturday’s game is the eighth meeting between Temple and Maryland, with the Terrapins winning the first six meetings before the Owls claimed their only win in 2011. The teams met for four consecutive seasons from 1997-2000, when Maryland earned three of its four victories by a touchdown or less. This is the second game of a four-game series between the schools.
  • Rutgers held Tulane to 262 total yards in Saturday's win. Rutgers held four opponents to less than 300 yards of total offense last season, going 4-0. The Scarlet Knights are 41-4 since 2000 when limiting teams to less than 300 yards of offense.
  • When opponents send five or more pass-rushers, USC's Matt Barkley has thrown 35 TD passes since 2010. During that time, Barkley has had seven games with at least three TD passes, including a four-touchdown game last season against Syracuse.
  • USF and Nevada have never met before. This is the first of their two-game series, which will conclude Oct. 3, 2015 in Tampa, Fla.
  • Louisville will be playing Missouri State for the first time. The Cardinals are 2-0 under Charlie Strong against FCS opponents. They're 87-51-3 all-time against current FCS teams. And they are 26-12 overall in nonconference competition since joining the Big East in 2005.
  • UConn enters Saturday's contest against NC State with the nation's No. 1 overall defense through one week, in addition to the No. 4 defense against both the rush and the pass. The Wolfpack won the only meeting between these two schools, in 2003, but the coaches, Paul Pasqualoni and Tom O'Brien, squared off eight times when they were at Syracuse and Boston College, respectively, with Pasqualoni winning five of those contests.
  • USC's Lee emerged as a true second option on the outside in Week 9 last season, catching seven passes for 94 yards and a touchdown against Stanford. From then on, Lee has averaged more than twice as many receiving yards per game than teammate Robert Woods, emerging as Barkley’s primary downfield threat.
