Here are the Big East players of the week as announced by the league office Monday.
Offense: Gary Nova, QB, Rutgers. Nova helped Rutgers improve to 4-0 with the best performance of his career in a 35-26 win at Arkansas. He went 25-of-35 for 397 yards and five touchdowns, setting career highs in completions, yards and touchdown passes. He threw three touchdown passes in the second half, including two that answered Arkansas scoring drives.
Defense: Adrian Bushell, CB, Louisville. Bushell had a team-high seven tackles to go with 0.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup in a 28-21 win over FIU.
Special teams: Brandon McManus, K/P, Temple. McManus scored seven points in the 24-13 loss to Penn State, making field goals of 33 and 42 yards, and averaged 48.5 yards on six punts against the Nittany Lions. McManus leads the Big East in scoring (nine points per game) and has made a school-record 52 career field goals. This is his second Big East weekly honor.
Weekly Honor Roll
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville. Completed 19 of 36 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-21 win at Florida International.
Mike Shanahan, WR, Pitt. Had five receptions for a career-high 144 yards with two touchdowns in a 55-10 win against Gardner-Webb.
B.J. Daniels, QB, USF. Completed 19 of 30 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns and had 75 yards rushing on 14 carries for 387 yards of total offense in a 31-27 loss at Ball State.
Siriki Diabate, LB, Syracuse. Had a game- and career-high 10 tackles with 0.5 tackles for loss in a 17-10 loss at Minnesota.
Alec Lemon, WR, Syracuse. Had nine receptions for 106 yards in a 17-10 loss at Minnesota. Set Syracuse’s career receptions record (145).
